Hubs' new toy!
A Fujifilm FinePix X100
click here for more on Review Cnet
The bottom line: The X100's design, hybrid viewfinder and image quality are its strengths, but it won't satisfy users who want a camera that delivers snappy performance.
Review:
Looking at the FinePix X100 is like peeking into a page of the history of cameras. After all, it was modeled after old rangefinder cameras, such as the Canon QL17 and Minolta Hi-Matic 7, which were popular in the 1970s. The retro styling brings about a sense of nostalgia for older shutterbugs, while the trendier crowd may find such a design to be unique and cool.Given that retro seems to be the trend for camera designs nowadays, it's no wonder that the X100 made waves in the imaging industry and among enthusiasts photographers when it was unveiled at last year's Photokina. Its specifications, such as the APS-C-sized image sensor and hybrid optical viewfinder, are also strong features that pit the Fujifilm against the likes of the Sigma DP2s and Leica X1.
The FinePix was scheduled to ship in March, and few shipments made their way around the world before Japan, where the X100 is manufactured, was struck by the massive 9.0 earthquake. Production was halted for a short while, and this drove up the FinePix's price on eBay. Some units were selling for US$2,000, much more than its recommended retail price of US$1,299 (S$1,699). At the time this review was published, a quick check on the Web confirmed that Fujifilm's factories have resumed production of the X100.

SUNTEC Electronic and IT sale

we got there really early around 8am plus and there was already a queue. And the opening hours is 11am!!! GOSH...and the people who were ahead of there were sitting down in line, waiting with their newspapers and breakfast. After waiting for about 2 hours plus, wj went down to Toastbox to get me some coffee and toast.
About 1030am, the 'red' guys starting hollering and giving out coupons, asking us one by one of us in the queue, what we want to get. So after you tell him what you want, he will give you his limited coupons which guarantees you a set. - can be 20sets of limited LCD tv, laptops, camera, washers etc.
After we have gotten our coupons, it was time to wait for the big huge doors to open. The red elastic band was between us and the doors. The red guys started to back people away from the red band, and waiting for time to strike 11am. And when it came, the doors all opened at the same time. The moment the red band was released, everyone rushed and shovelled their way in!!!! there was no time to react at all.
it was natural instinct. survival.
The fastest got what they wanted. Unfortunately for us, the coupons did get us what we wanted but for the 'purchase with purchase', while waiting in the queue for the longest time, hubs wanted very much for the 22" LCD tv for only $99 was sold out right before our eyes!!!! So in the end we got ourselves a DVD player.

Tanglin Mall Bazaar

okay, these were really not part of the day's plan.
The plan for the day was to:
- 1. have breakfast with parents
- 2. go to club21 sale
- 3. tea at takashimaya
- 4. home - rest for the weekend
somehow, after no3, on the way back, we saw that there was a bazaar at Tanglin Mall! And we have been missing so many because everytime we didnt feel enough for it to go.
So this time, i look at wj and say : wanna go?
And we spent our late afternoon there wandering and bought these 2 irresistable cutesy stuff! At first i saw the radio, check that it was working and asked for the price. $5! i thought it was quite affordable and still working. Plus it will be a nice ornament to my drab table currently. Next i saw the cushion sitting on the floor, looking all neglected so i asked for the price as well. Same! so i whipped out my $5. haha....feeling quite happy now...cos i've been searching high and low for the "right" back cushion for my office chair. THIS IS SO IT!!!
so at the end of the day, things are unpredictable afterall! because i actually thot that i would be spending my pennies at club21 but i ended at a bazaar instead!

ooooooooo-aaaaaaaaaaaaa

LG Electronics has followed up the worldwide success of its award-winning ‘Chocolate’ mobile phone by launching two trendsetting versions – the cool White and attractive Pink ‘Chocolate’.
Having already won two European design awards (iF Design Award and reddot Design Award for its unique styling and user interface), the LG Chocolate Phone raises the bar on how mobile phones look and feel. The cool white and hot pink versions ooze modern style and chic while the unique design promises to be even more desirable.
Once activated, the phone’s signature design feature, its glowing red touch-sensitive icons, bring to life a ‘hidden’ full-colour screen that completes the phone’s unique look and feel of minimalism with a modern twist.
Its onboard features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, 128MB memory, music player and Bluetooth. Battery life is an impressive 200 hours standby with 3hours 20 minutes talk time. The Pink and White ‘Chocolate’ handsets are identical to the original Black Chocolate phone in terms of features.

WMF tee-set
Tea is now the flavour of the month, thanks to its medicinal qualities which combine nicely with the trend to healthy living. However, im not going to give up coffee totally cos a cuppa tea can never keep me awake in the early mornings!...oh i just love earl grey tea and english breakfast...and not to mention fresh peppermint tea! oh the thot of it makes me yearn for good cuppa tea...but sad to say, i only have a box of lipton. =(anyway, not to douse everyone's happy moods...
here's recommendation from a local newspaper website!
Trust German brand WMF to serve up Teutonic precision with this 'Tee-Set'. It comes with a warmer to keep the temperature of your tea just right for drinking. The metallic filter is slightly bent at the bottom with little holes, so that you can remove tea leaves as soon as the brew is ready. This prevents your tea from becoming too strong.
Looks really cool to have it on my working desk....maybe i will invest in one when i get back...then my mummy needn't have to watch our tea from becoming too strong.
and besides looking so tectonic and cool...im sure it's smaller than a coffee maker!
