Here's the place where we ate our lunch.
i had the Fish Porridge while WJ had his beehoon goreng.
The fish porridge was tasty enough for me. The stock wasn't clear but it was good. The fish slices were suprisingly fresh! i was quite prepared to taste those muddy fish types but hey hey! not bad!
The beehoon goreng was acceptable too as there wasnt like a puddle of oil at the bottom of the plate. Have any of you been to Magic Wok in Singapore? whoa that one ah the beehoon goreng is soooo oily!!!
anyway here are some other food stuff i found if you wanna eat at Pasar Oleh Oleh:
*Café Helo Helo
Getting there: At Pasar Oleh Oleh. Take Shuttlebus service. About S$3-4 for Horfun, Fried rice etc.
Favorite Dish: Bihun Goreng (Fried Rice Vermicelli) and the Sambal Kangkong
Avoid: sugar cane juice.
*Kintamani Restaurant & Bar
Getting there: Pasar Oleh Oleh.
Favorite Dish: The Chilli Prawn - which tasted like Chilli Crab.
Avoid: STAY AWAY FROM THE TOM YUM SOUP - IT TASTED LIKE KETCHUP WATER. YUCK!
and since we are on the topic of food....here are some of my other searches!
*Nirwana Resort Hotel “Coffeeshop”
Notes: value for money 1-for-1 buffet. Occasional seasons, not all the time.
*Tun Teja 555 Kelong@Telok Sebung
Notes: Cheap seafood but far away. Taxi ride out approx. S$30.
Best to go with 4 or more pple to make money’s worth.
*La Luna BBQ buffet
Grilled BBQ meat; lamb racks, beef steak, lots of salad to wash down all the cuts. Price = S$25
(Slightly pricey, like ZiChar)
Built on stilts just above the sea, seafood dining does not come any fresher than this! Tuck into live catch caught straight from the waters and prepared by chefs in a unique blend of Chinese and Indonesian culinary style.
Getting there: Free shuttle service
Operating Hours: 11.00 am to 10.00pm daily
Favorite Dish: The seafood omelette was great, Garoupa (done fried and sweet & sour style) was fresh and succulent. Crayfish stirred fried with butter (small = 6 pieces); sambal kangkong was very savoury; Crispy chicken was so tender and the skin just melts in your mouth!
Notes: black garoupa (0.2kg = $18) @ 60/kg, a lobster (0.5kg=$18) @ 90/kg and a chili crab (0.5kg = $18) @ 36/kg.
