Day 01 - Shihlin Night Market

Ritey, finally i have finished compiling all my taipei taiwan 6days 5 nites photos! almost a thousand photos!!! phew!
So here goes...

The day started quite early as our flight was at 1pm, so we reached the airport at about 10am for breakfast with my parents before we check in.
My suggestion was to put a small luggage in our big samsonite luggage! haha in that way i can have more extra room for stuff from taipei!!! one can never be too careful!!! hehehe....

im intending to sweep my way thru their garment warehouse!!!! The first day upon touching down will be quite tiring after the 3.5hour flight. Since we are taking budget airlines so we intend to find our dinner at Shihlin Night market after checking into our hotel at Ximending.

yups, i remembered to bring ahren along too....it's both our first time to taipei!!! woohoo! think he's just as excited as me!!!! ~weee!~

yups! we are finally on terra firma! and we took a public coach transport from Taoyuan airport down to the city centre - Ximending (XMD). Bought our MRT cards and zoom off to Jiantan station which is where Shihlin Night market is...with our growling stomachs!!!!

Shihlin is swarmed with humans all looking for good and cheap food just like us...bet many were inspired by all the taiwanese variety shows introducing all the local snacks in taipei and of cos shihlin!!! and we have on our list of paper, the top 10 'must eat' list!!!! so off we go!!!!

this chicken chop stall was by far the longest Q in shihlin! and we were quite smart too! haha, we bought our tau hway first...and we Q and eat at the same time!

Not bad, quite worth the money and wait, dunno how much MSG it has, but it was crispy on the outside, hot and succulent on the insides!! and it was HUGE! and finger licking good!!!!

dun like this one....too big and nothing fancy....abit disappointing, the only thing good was that the ice shaving was very smooth...and i didnt get to eat my mango ice as mango was not in season!!!! sobsob.

smelly tofu was good! Not too smelly as i thot it would be...and it came with very appetising pickles on the side!!! terrific! i lurvee it ....thumbs-up!!!

hmm...this one was pass-able too, i think singapore's one is much better and I'M SO NOT AN OFAL FAN!!! yes in taipei, the meesua has porky intestines (big and small) instead of the usual oysters which we have in sg. sadness. pout pout pout. i made wj finished the rest of it.

hmm, this is our SG's equivalent Bak Kut teh...the herbal version...can do...no wonder, people say singapore is a food haven! if we have just as much advertisment like the taiwanese variety programmes, i bet we have just as many tourists swarming our little island for our indian rojak, popiah, chicken rice, duck rice, char kway teow, carrot cake, laksa...etc etc...oh i miss singapore's food already!!!

after doing our top ten must eat list...we went back to our hotel to rest.

ahren's watching telly...lots of channels here...80 of them!!!
