Haji Lane

Singapore's Haji Lane:
As a local, i think everyone should try to make her way down to Haji Lane for a new experience and soaking in a different approach to shopping. Welcome to Haji Lane gals, bohemian style and secretly stashed along an alley way at Beach Road area. I'm sure the pubs and bars come alive at night, judging from the leftover bottles of liquour and cigarette stubs found along the drains when i was there that hot sweltering afternoon.Gals u may want to visit this place in the early evenings to avoid the sun.

Ever since coming back for the past 3 months, i have heard some stuff about Haji lane over forums and magazines. And true to these facts found both online and hard copies, Haji Lane has fast becoming a popular place to do a bit of shopping with plenty of specialty boutiques and vintage clothing stores mixed in between swanky furniture stores and life concept shops. Old shophouses rented out to young owners seeking for a new way of retailing. And each store has its own signature doorstep, letter box, freshly painted walls and some even have painted art on the columns. One even has a different opening which slants and opens via an automatic sliding door. The best method to experience the variegated shops lining Haji lane is by foot, that way you can really discover the culture of this shopping precinct and not to worry gals, this lane is quite short compared to the ones back in melbourne. If only they have more shophouse-retail alleys like this in singapore!!! But it's a start for now.

Better late than never!
