茉莉食坊

Since i came back to Shenzhen about a week ago, there's been a new restaurant in town!

w o o h o o !

it's such a relief because the 'city' that i work in is so lacking in eateries! The newly opened restaurant is located along 酒吧一条街 (The bar street) literally. Themed in purple and following closely with the restaurant's name Jasmine , the interiors are done with nice furnishings, booth seats and lots of muslim draperies for privacy as well as to add in that 'homely and soft' effect. While the booth seats are lining against the walls, the middle section of the restaurant is designed with sleek cum 'today's modern' furniture ie dark wooden tables and cushiony chairs with clean white sheets.
Apart from furniture, there's a dash of jasmine floral patterns weaving across the walls and columns. Nice.

Wirey Lampshade! How cool is that!

Here's a snapshot of the interiors, i was sitting in one of the booth seats...haha so what u see are the non boothy chairs and tables.

We ordered the 老板娘红烧肉 and 上汤大白菜. The latter came first in an earthern ware, lots of fatty pork which WJ was enjoying...tsk tsk. And besides the fatty pork, it had tofu skin twisted in a knot just looks abit like mushrooms!...how cute is that. I guess it's quite a pretty way of doing the tofu skin thingy and this way, it soaks up quite a fair bit of the sauce. Not bad.
As for the veggie dish, not too oily by china standards and usually when we order 上汤anything, it will come with ginger and century egg toppings. This was a little different! It was topped with chinese ham, mushrooms and carrots. What a pleasant surprise!
I bet once this little cantonese restaurant is more known to the residents here, business should be booming. Right now it's a little quiet. Hopefully it will give 畅碗restaurant a run for its money as its prices are way steeper than the other eateries around the corner.
