Halia Restaurant

Sunday morning was spent at the beautiful Halia Restaurant with my family and wj. It was a spread of Continential, american and singaporean dishes. Nestled in an abundance of greenery, sounds of birds and creatures of the park (wj saw a hummingbird!), the setting was cooled with the ceiling fans and the trellis provided the necessary shade. Those who arent comfortable with alfresco dining can opt for the aircon rooms inside!(which many ang-mohs did)

Dad and wj were having a ball of time watching the ang-mohs trying to figure out how to cook the laksa and prepare congee by themselves! One put congee on her plate, the other sprinkled the laksa leaves onto his dried noodles! (think he didnt know he had to boil the noodles in hot water, pour the laksa gravy then sprinkle the laksa leaves...muahahha)
Many were puzzled, not to mention abit of agony and twisted look , frowns on their foreheads and 'huh' was written all over their faces!

GV Max

dear all,

i have decided to use my points to redeem a pair of GV pass to catch a movie at Vivocity. WHY? becos there's so much 'ohs' and 'ahs' about how big their cinemas and screens are. So how can pinky not see it for herself at all as she is the well acclaimed movie buff enthusiast from the past and MISS KNOW ALL about the IN things in life!

ritey, so im here to announced that i have caught 'the Babel' yes yes starring the infamous Brad Bitt and Cate Blanchett with at least 7 nominations to this film. Named Babel...true to its name.

Ba.bel :
1. a confused mixture of sounds or voices.
2. a scene of noise and confusion.

the scene was shot in Morocco with many scenes happening at one time. One moment you are in morocco with Brad Pitt, his wife got shot accidently at the neck by a young boy who was testing his rifle skills up in the mountains with his goats, the next thing u know, wham! you are in tokyo where a schoolgirl is showing you her bushy vagina and you follow the scene of her taking drugs and alcohol to a head banging loud underground party where all kinds of lust are taking place, next the film brings you to mexico where a rowdy wedding party is taking place, a nanny illegally bringing a pair of american children, got caught in a tangle of old flame who kisses her so passionately inside the house whilst the children mixed with the locals and saw how the young kids twist the chicken's neck and plug the head out right in front of your eyes. WHOA. *puipui! pinky covers her eyes...*

wj's dinner

these days, wj has been working pretty late as his meetings only starts after office hours. haha so he usually doesnt have the chance to catch his dinner. So when he comes back this time, i have a dinner all set up for him!

Quick dinner
mee sua(2 servings/bundles)
broccoli
egg (i fried this beforehand)
a few slices of beef (meant for the dogs actually! haha)
half a stick of carrot, sliced (for peanut one actually...)

Boil water, add chicken cube stock, once boiling, add carrots, beef , egg and brocoli.
When most ingredients are cooked (there is a slight colour change to carrots and broccoli), add in mee sua.
Stir for another 3-5mins.
Serve immediately.

Devilicious Desserts

Mei Hong Yuan Desserts (Traditional Desserts) along Temple street is famous for their nutty pastes! I have tried many desserts stalls and many failed to resemble the ones found in HK. But this store almost fits the bill. Try the sesame, almond, peanut paste and walnut paste (quite unique), feels so smooth and i heard the nutrients are really good for health and beauty! They have chilled ones too like the sweet mango pomelo sago ($3.50), herbal jelly (cooling effects) egg pudding and milk pudding (good for beauty) and beancurd with gingko nuts. And the little ones will love the mango pudding!
For those out there who wants a bit more than just desserts, there are pumpkin cakes (again something unique), yam, carrot, and water chestnut cakes, chee cheong fun, dumplings and much much more.

~have your just desserts now...

FOOD again everywhere we go!

yes gals! me and wj are back at ikea once more to solve my shelfing and compartmentalizing of my tiny room. The trouble with staying overseas is that one sometimes forget that we actually have something similar back home but heck! what's the use of it being at home when u need it abroad right? so we have to buy buy buy!
and so comes the dilemma when u ship your stuff back and BAM! it hits upon u that u have no more space for ur stuff!!!

*headache* and where to go looking for quick and cheap furniture? IKEA lor. But before we go hunting for our shelves, we must first fill our stomachs!!!
Comme d'habitude, we had the famous and salivating swedish meatballs, the poached salmon and spaghetti bolognaise!!! and a can of green tea to share.

the restaurant was packed! and there were coordinators with mikes on to direct the human traffic to sit which is a good thing! then i neednt have to rush and snatch a seat like an ugly singaporean! phew!

Dinner by the esplanade

i'm sure many of you would have dined at the Marina Food Loft by now, ever since it has rejuvenated into a new face, opened its doors and introduced a more spacious, well-lit eating place for the locals and the bonus point which i really must commend upon is the beautiful view that the foodcourt is actually facing! look! the 'durian' is just behind me as we eat...and so is singapore's signature skyline!
