Starry Starry Nite

fairy lights in the shape of stars.

SUNTEC Electronic and IT sale

we got there really early around 8am plus and there was already a queue. And the opening hours is 11am!!! GOSH...and the people who were ahead of there were sitting down in line, waiting with their newspapers and breakfast. After waiting for about 2 hours plus, wj went down to Toastbox to get me some coffee and toast.

About 1030am, the 'red' guys starting hollering and giving out coupons, asking us one by one of us in the queue, what we want to get. So after you tell him what you want, he will give you his limited coupons which guarantees you a set. - can be 20sets of limited LCD tv, laptops, camera, washers etc.

After we have gotten our coupons, it was time to wait for the big huge doors to open. The red elastic band was between us and the doors. The red guys started to back people away from the red band, and waiting for time to strike 11am. And when it came, the doors all opened at the same time. The moment the red band was released, everyone rushed and shovelled their way in!!!! there was no time to react at all.

it was natural instinct. survival.

The fastest got what they wanted. Unfortunately for us, the coupons did get us what we wanted but for the 'purchase with purchase', while waiting in the queue for the longest time, hubs wanted very much for the 22" LCD tv for only $99 was sold out right before our eyes!!!! So in the end we got ourselves a DVD player.

Hong Kong Day 04 Part 01

Lin Xiang Teahouse (Lin Heung Tea House)

Ling Heung Tea House in Wellington Street, an 80 year old establishment that is still packed day to night. Even recommended by TIME in its 10 things to do in HK in 24 hours article. This place is famous for making its customers share tables because it is so difficult to get a seat!

you know it's so difficult to get a seat and even the dim sum too!!!
Everyone rushes to the auntie trolley when she comes out from the kitchen with her trolley filled to the top with hot piping baskets of dim sum. So WJ makes a dash for it cos both daddy and mummy are really hungry by now after waiting so long to get a seat.

And mind you, the seats which we got was actually the waiter saw us pathetically trying so hard to get a seat but always losing out to the locals!!! hahaha...actually thinking back it's really quite comical..to think that singaporeans are kiasu, but i think the locals here are even more kiasu!!!
Anyway, at that time, i even wanted to give up and told mum that we'll go to another place for dim sum...but mum wouldn't give up, saying that since we are all here...we should try.

Anyway back to dim sum snatching...after queuing so long, OMG this little basket of golden buns, upon opening its skin, AIYOH, how come the filling is so puny!!! EVEN wj goes big-eyed!

mummy is really happy with her dim sum here....

and we pose for a together photo here....

some photos of wj hustling and bustling through the crowd...thankfully the auntie trolley notices that he has been waiting really long and serve him first even though other customers were pushing their order chits to the auntie FORCEFULLY...

YAY! and we have our dim sums.

after dim sum , the best way to lose those calories is to go SHOPPING!!!

and mummy is losing any moment at all, immediately outside the restaurant there were stalls selling shoes!

Hong Kong Day 04 Part 02

Chan Yi Zai, an 82 year old establishment that sells traditional home made snacks like almond cookies, bird’s nest cake, barley cookies, sour plum etc.

We bought 1 box of each...bird nest and barley cakes...and brought back for WJ's mum to eat...hmm...have you tried dragon's beard before in SG? tastes something like that, lots of strand and not much taste...hmm..not very nice.

陳意齋 CHAN YEE JAI
Shop D, G/F, 176 Queen’s Road Central (Central)
香港皇后大道中176D號
Open from Monday to Saturday 10am-730pm, Sunday 10am to 630pm

After making the effort to find this famous shop selling bland barley and bird nests' cakes...we are off to try more snacks!!!

"When it comes to Polo Buns, Kam Wah Cafe is the place to be. Many who have tasted them have testified that Kam Wah has the best Polo Buns in Hong Kong, and as a matter of fact, in the entire world (since Polo Buns originated from Hong Kong). We have to admit the Polo Bun is as good as it gets. Crispy, flaky and yet tantalizing. Perfect with a cup of coffee or tea. "

quote from another blogger...which i truly agree!!!

see mum's quirky face really makes me laugh! What joy to travel with family!!!

lots of newspaper and magazine articles all slapped on the mosaic tiled wall.

OH! my beloved Bo Luo Baos with butter! OMG what a terrific combi!

daddy is trying to make a funny face here...but i think WJ's ones are better!!! Sorry dad!!

see...it's so crowded that dad and mum have to jostle their way out of the little shop.
