Wedding - #10 Bridal Boutiques@Delfi

OFF TO DELFI ORCHARD TO FIND A GOWN

By Appointment

Sorry girls, I didn't manage to make an appointment here and because I heard from another Bridal source that the gowns here are overly-priced for one which you can find another replica for at equally good MTM bridal boutiques. Of course, I went back and gave it some thought, perhaps the rental at Delfi could be really steep to make the bridal boutiques here cost their gowns are a relatively more expensive rates.

Sheesh, I feel so bitchy saying this here. I guess, every bride will source all sorts of crap from everywhere and somewhere. So anyway, I'm sure there will be brides who are definitely happy here if not this bridal boutique wouldn't have lasted so long over here at Delfi's.

Designer Miah attended to me. LURVE him! so attentive!!! Extremely.
Designed a gown on the spot for me after he studied the few gowns which i tried on that day. How did he do it? As there were certain cuts which flattered me, and certain fabric somehow made me feel 'happy' like a bride. Somehow you know. Like some gals really want embroidery, i realised that i wanted LACE! With or without blings doesn't really matter to me.

Bridal Veil(BV) by Michelle Chen Huimin
Package comprehensive, this i will explain in detail. The package that BV gave me showed me all the number of required fittings. And even specifically explain what BV will be doing at each fittings like matching of skin colours, taking measurements, trying of gowns with different cuts, personal consultation with Michelle herself regarding body contours and what type of cuts will flatter the bride. Things of that sorts.
Also the package includes a suit for the groom! Finally something for the male counterparts. Somehow, most weddings seems to be centred around the bride and it's as if ONLY the bride is getting married! The groom gets so left out!
Anyway, here at BV, rest assured that he too gets a MTM suit just for himself to keep! So happy groom-to-be!

Also included in the package are complimentary hand bouquets, flowers, corsages, a tea-dress to rent.
In general, there are 2 main packages. The 'standard' one and of cos the 'Superior' one which entitles the bride to more lace, blings (swarovski crystals), embroidery ie more HUMAN labour.

ok. Right. Here's the part where every bride wants to hear right. Everyone wants to hear the bad stuff.
So here's my personal take.

Because it was my first appointment and I did make one and not just walk-in. I was 'upset' that I wasn't 'looked' after by Michelle herself or at least the senior designers. I was introduced to the package by a girl who looked like a fresh designer who didn't seem to be very experienced. I mean first impressions count. If on the first appt, i couldn't even get a designer to attend to me, how will I feel towards my other sessions?
Even though the girl assured me that every fitting Michelle will be there or at least a senior designer will attend to me. BUT, i really felt very insecure. And I'm not going to take any chances for I'm only getting married once. That being said. It's just customer service at the end of the day. The gowns I saw were perfect.

And for the record, I saw Huang Shufang's photo with Michelle in the changing room. and of cos, there were loads more with other people to show how credible her gowns were with their pinned on ThankYou cards.

The sweet lady who attended to me was Jessica. Didn't really sound local though.

And since you are Delfi's...might as well book an appointment with the talk-about local jewellers in town! - Fairy's Inc

Wedding - #9 Bridal Boutiques

Bridal shopfronts!

i guess when a bride goes for a bridal boutique hunt, it will most probably be her first time so here are some photos of the bridal shopfronts which i blogged about in my previous posts. So like some brides, i can get really blur, especially on a sunny afternoon, heat stroke an all, perspiring like a horse....AND I'M SEARCHING FOR SHOPS which i never noticed before in my life and now it's a meaningful journey of my LIFE!

Hopes this will help to all future scouting brides!!!

Wedding - #8 Bridal Boutiques

IN SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT BRIDAL STUDIO
The days of 'One-stop' packages from Bridal Shops may be numbered, and the trend towards going 'ala carte' is on the Rise. Also these are these are the bridal shops which will actually hold at least one consultation session with you.

Just one question: Would like to be known by just another wedding couple with your invoice numbers or remembered by your first names and your special requests?
Here's a list of bridal studios which i thought was more to those Made-To-Measure(MTM) kind of studios (of cos there was one which i made a BOO-BOO) just behind Tanjong Pagar Road. And of cos its best accessible by MRT if you and your fiance do not drive. I will write more another time on the weekend where we visited the cluster of bridal boutiques at Delfi Orchard and of cos the infamous Tanjong Pagar Road. *roll eye balls*

My walking list is as follows, starting from Dang Bridal and ending up with Flamingo Bridal at the end of the MRT stop whereby I can leave for the next venue. Actually I'm leaving for dinner because it will take the whole afternoon and most probably by latest you should start at 1pm.
Most of them opens at 12noon.

The bridal studios below, all, will require an appointment before you seek an audience with their designers. So better book them one week in advance if you are thinking of visiting them on a weekend which is saturday because they all do not, i repeat DO NOT work on Sundays.

Dang Bridal www.dangbridal.com.sg

They make the lovliest cheongsams or qipaos whatever you want to call them. And exquisitely made too!!! Very pretty for a evening gown. They do short cheongsams too for tea ceremony. I simply love their bold and quirky match of bright colours like fushia splashed with lime green or bright turquoise! Or piecing orange with green. They look fantastic and WHAM! sure to brighten your entire night and make u feel like you are the brightest of the lot. Which of cos would be the ultimate fantasy for any brides' wishlist to be the star that night.
As for their wedding gowns, their signature styles are feminine, dreamy with lots of organza and lace. But personally I feel, it's their cheongsams that will take your breath away if you are into oriental. Plus they are really nice people who will give you many different ideas on how to make that one gown extra special for you. Well that was how I felt when I went down for my 1st appointment.

I met up with Pin on my 1st appointment and boy was he funny! Even if you don't buy his style and gowns, you got to give him credit for his personality and IT'S so infectious! He will tell you personally what type of gown will fit you, let you try one a few styles, take you through his package and all his gowns are made to measure. So you are definitely the 1st person to wear his gown. A bride-to-be definitely will have some quality fun. And somehow, Pin makes u feel really assured that he knows his wedding business very well. He is also a make-up artist too! A bride will be in good hands here.

Erm...not what I wanted. Think I had this mixed up with My Wedding Present!!! What a klutz I was.
My Dream Wedding, no doubt they have dozens of wedding gowns but it wasn't what i was after. Because i really wanted a designer plus a MTM gown. Over here, gowns were mass produce from Hongkong with lots of new designs coming in every month, a bride looking for off the rack gowns will be quite pleased here or maybe even giddy headed from all that choosing!

Ted Wu www.ted-wu.com
77 Tras Street
6327-1241

I didn't manage to get to talk to Ted at my 1st appointment but his associate was apt enough. She brought us through some of Ted's work and package. And from there, you can really see Ted was very well-known for his fine, delicate embroidery. His workmanship is definitely every penny worth paying. There was this gown where I was shown of a squirrel representing the bride and a MUSHROOM which of cos was the groom. (i wonder why...)The couple had actually asked Ted to design an embroidery on her gown of a squirrel and mushroom. And it was so cute!!! i mean on the gown! it was so personalised. This certainly takes alot of effort as well as dedication. So if you are into embroidery on your gown. This is the place. Oh and also TED WU is by far the most expensive along this stretch of bridal boutiques. Followed by Blush blush.

Flamingo Bridal
#01-57 Wallish Street, Wallish Building
6226-2728
I was mesmerized by this gown which was featured in one of the wedding magazines and thus decided to especially make a trip down to see this famous shirley (the designer and owner of Flamingo Bridal). I have heard so much about her and her gowns on some forums. So naturally I was very excited to see the actual designer and gown in person. However my 1st appointment, Shirley was so happened to be out of town so Sihua attended to me. She was very patient in my needs, listened to what i wanted and of cos let me try on some of their gowns. And if I'm not wrong they are having a promotion with UOB cards with 10% discount off from their package.
On my 2nd appointment with them, i finally got to meet the designer and of cos she was more detailed and very reassuring of her capabilities. However, i was very disappointed with some "over-looked" items which i will not blog about here. I was so ready to sign a package with them but I didnt at the end of the day.

Wedding - #7 What to do?!

THE 2 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO BE SETTLED

hi all!!!

i know i haven't been blogging for some time now. Lots of wedding research to be done!!!
Anyway, will post more on my hunt for wedding studios, photography, videography, solemnisation venues, dinner banquet venues etc

ANYWAY...the 2 MOST important things to be SETTLED in a wedding. If you are having the "traditional" one that is.
  1. Wedding banquet dinner/luncheon which is such an IN thing now, something which my mother disapproves so vehemently. (that's when u really settle the date, time, partial guest list, number of tables u are expecting, part of your budget will go here and hotels will throw in one night stays plus invites plus free carparking for guests etc etc)
  2. Bridal Studio (they will settle all your wedding gown, your hubby's suit, your evening gown, make-up, hair, bling bling jewellery to wear for shoot and actual day, flowers and corsages for yourself; hubby; bridesmaids; in-laws and car, tea dress, hand bouquet for your shoot and actual day)
When you settle these 2 big ticket items, you almost home-run. The rest are easy.

Will post more on my wedding finds soon! One by one.

Barracks Cafe@Dempsey

Breakfast - Is it as good as PS cafe?
Wj had the american sliders: Absolutely loved the sweet potato fries and truffle fries. The 2 burgers were abit too heavy for wj for breakfast but definitely worth sharing with a friend. absolutely love their fries. opps. did i already mentioned it? LURVE their fries!

ME: the norm breakfast but it was a hearty one! Nonetheless, i must say this, they really do score well on presentation as well as their quirky plates and crockery, newspaper like menu which really throws in that extra 'breakfast seat over counter read news' kinda feeling. Look at my floral plate, so 'english' like...cool. Plus their eggs done were lovely. Just lovely.

very refreshing setting in the lush dempsey hill, outside, we could just overlook tons and tons of green, canopies of green green trees. Best viewed in the mornings. I would say, i might come here instead of the very hyped up PS cafe.

Taste:*****
Price: wooo...abit on the high side, but given the surroundings and quirky personal touches to everything that is here, I may just come back again afterall!
Service: Good and prompt! Probably cos i was there really early and so it's just us, a gay couple and a gal groupie of 4.
